There’s something magical about weddings in the Florida Keys. The turquoise water, the salty breeze, and those jaw-dropping sunsets over the bay. Recently, I had the absolute joy of photographing a Playa Largo wedding for Haley and John in Key Largo, Florida. It was the perfect blend of tropical, elevated elegance and laid-back fun.

The Couple

From the moment I met Haley and John at their engagement shoot almost a year prior, I knew their wedding day was going to be a reflection of their fun-loving, playful personalities. They wanted a celebration that felt like a vacation for their guests. Toes in the sand, drinks in hand with an elevated tropical and vibrant atmosphere. Playa Largo was the perfect venue to bring that vision to life.

The day started with the bridal party getting ready in the resort’s bright, coastal-inspired suites. With palm trees swaying outside the windows and champagne glasses clinking, the excitement was contagious. Haley looked stunning in her deep cut wedding dress, while John kept things classic in his navy suit.

They said “I do” right on Playa Largo’s private beach during sunset, and let me tell you — it was pure magic. The pre golden hour light hit the water just right, casting the most dreamy glow as they exchanged vows with the ocean behind them.

After the ceremony, we snuck away for golden hour portraits on the dock. We not only had the most gorgeous sunset, but we were also able to fly the drone and get some killer ariel shots to really seal the deal on why a Playa Largo wedding is so magical.

The Reception & Decor

While the ceremony was sweet and romantic, the reception was a full-on island party! The couple hosted their celebration under twinkling bistro lights, with long caterpillar, curved tables dressed in vibrant florals, candles and placemats and beautiful rattan chargers to tie it all together. There were many interactive guest experiences intertwined throughout the evening including a cigar roller and a telephone booth guest book. DJ Ivanco kept the energy up all night while guests danced the night away on the checkered dance floor and the atmosphere was just… pure joy.
