How to Prepare for a Rainy Wedding Day | Pelican Club Wedding | Jupiter Wedding Photographer
If you are planning to have your wedding in South Florida, then it is inevitable that you HAVE TO consider the weather. Rain on your wedding day is a very real possibility so it is important to prepare and plan ahead and have backup plans.
A few of my best tips to prepare for a rainy wedding day are:
Do a first look! It is no secret that I am a big fan of a first look, but for good reason! If you do a first look, you have two chances of getting great portraits without the rain. Typically rain in Florida happens later in the afternoon, so if you do a first look, if it happens to rain after your ceremony, it doesn’t matter because you will have already gotten all of your portraits out of the way! Heck ya! Anything after the ceremony is just a bonus!
Have a ceremony backup plan. Whether that be ordering a tent if your entire wedding is outdoors, or figuring out an indoor location at your venue. Whatever the plan is, just have it in your back pocket because it is better to prepare and not need it than not have one and scramble day of.
Have you maid of honor or planner or photographer or whoever (except for you) worry about and watch the weather radar. Whatever is going to happen with the weather is going to happen regardless of what you want and hope, so why stress yourself out about it?! Let your peeps do the worrying and backup planning for you. Your job is to enjoy your day!!!
Invest in a couple clear umbrellas or ask your photographer or venue if they have any. I always carry clear umbrellas in my trunk so if you are my bride, I got you! But, these umbrellas are very photogenic and are a great way to keep you dry while also still getting some great pics if the rain doesn’t let up!
Have towels and anything necessary on deck to help to dry your dress or clean it if need be. Obviously, staying out of the rain is the goal, but sometimes it is inevitable, especially if you still want a few outdoor photos at your venue, so chances are, some or parts of your dress will get wet and/or a little dirty, so just come prepared with cleaning/drying supplies!
Lastly, do your best to just enjoy your day and control what you can control! Did you hear me?! CONTROL WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL. And FYI, the weather is not one of them. So roll with the punches and don’t let anything including a little rain ruin your big day! After all, rain on a wedding day is good luck! 🙂
